Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics

This is an excellent opportunity within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Clinical Fellow will have opportunities to further their spinal surgical knowledge through exposure to clinics, operating lists (elective and emergency), ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings and formal teaching. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, the post is not recognised for training the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.
This job is a good opportunity to gain particular experience in degenerative spinal pathologies using MIS techniques and operating with the surgical microscope. We also manage some spinal emergencies locally due to increased demand on the tertiary hub. There is no local spinal on call rota.
The Lister Hospital is located in Hertfordshire approximately 25 miles from North London. It has excellent access via the A1M and good rail links as well as being surrounded by many towns and villages with good access to schooling.
The appointee will join the Orthopaedic team at middle grade level, working between 14 Orthopaedic consultants. The time table will parallel that of the two spinal consultants with the opportunity to take more independent role in clinics and theatres depending on experience level. The role is also important to the rest of the department supporting other teams with their acute spinal admissions.

- Managing elective spinal patients throughout their hospital stay
- Providing coordination and help with acute spinal admissions under spinal and other orthopaedic consultants.
