We’re looking for a brilliant PHP Developer to join our Development team, focusing on our PlumbNation brand building upon our in-house online platforms. The Role: It is an exciting time here at Highbourne Group, we have recently become a stand-alone business and are making real strides in creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates and values diversity. As such, we are now in a position to recruit for a PHP Developer position based at our Wirral Office, working across our PlumbNation brand. As our newest Developer, you'll join our technical team who are crucial in building our in-house platforms set up to manage not only own brand activities but the onboarding of additional acquisitions and sister brands into our portfolio. You'll sit at the heart of this team, crucial in implementing technical solutions that fulfil the commercial ambitions of the business. Areas of focus: - Create well crafted, scalable and resilient solutions used both by colleagues and the public. - Own the delivery of software into the business. - Participate in sprint planning to deliver regular iterations, and retrospectives to improve our processes. - Promote software development best practices. - Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements and taking corrective action for issues in production. - Perform exploratory work to investigate new technologies that we can leverage to solve business problems, as well as sizing changes to our existing platform. - Reviewing colleagues’ code submissions, coaching enhancements, encouraging standards and identifying bugs. This is a hybrid-based opportunity with true flexibility to work from home (minimum of 2 to 3 days a week in the office), so you should be within commutable distance of our office in Wirral, Mersyside. This means you could be from areas such as Birkenhead, Broughton, Buckley, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Hewal, Hoylake, Liverpool, Manchester, Merseyside, Northwich, Prescot, Preston, Saltney, Speke, St Helens, Warrington, West Kirby, Widnes, Wirral, Wrexham. Required skills and competencies: - At least two years’ experience of software engineering in a commercial setting. - Experience of PHP MVC frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel or CodeIgniter. - Demonstrable record of delivering high-quality object-oriented code and using SOLID principles. - A strong grasp of MySQL with the ability to identify problematic or costly queries. - Experience of React JS as well as other foundational front-end technologies e.g Vanilla Javascript/jQuery, HTML, CSS. - Experience of Agile development methodologies e.g. Scrum. - Experience with REST APIs and GraphQL. Nice to have but not essential: - Experience of using Test Driven Development in commercial projects. - Front-end styling frameworks such as SASS & Bootstrap. - Linux administratio. - An understanding of micro-service architectures and containerisation. It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: Agile, Back End Developer, Bootstrap, CSS, CodeIgniter, Front End Developer, Full Stack Developer, HTML, Javascript,Laravel, PHP Developer, PHP MVC, React SASS, SQL, Symfony, Web Developer, jQuery.
