**SUPPORT WORKER- MENTAL HEALTH**

**Education/Qualification** : QCF Level 3 minimum and above

**Work/other experience**:
Experience of working with adults with mental health illness or challenging behaviours in a multi-cultural setting.

Experience of working with individuals and their families within a social care /health setting, providing personal care, medication management, supporting with activities with demonstrable transferable skills.

Experience of supporting people to work towards and achieve their goals in any setting or context.

Experience of drawing care plans, completing risk assessments for clients, administering medication and completing relevant health and safety checks, arranging outings / activities for client.

**Communication Skills
- Written / Verbal**:
Good interpersonal and communication skills

Good organisational skills

Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions.

Ability to compile written reports for daily observation, case conferences, statutory reviews, and for other relevant circumstances in a clear, concise and factual way.

**Skills**:
Good team working skills

Ability to undertake daily record keeping.

Ability to prioritise work; to plan and set clear objectives.

Ability to use computers and related software packages such as word, outlook, excel, and any business-related databases at an operational level.

Ability to use _Log My _- _desirable_

2. Ability to provide quality care.

3. Effective time management skills.

4. Ability to formulate clear and effective care plans, working in partnership with clients and their families, and to undertake observational assessments.

5. Ability to engage and build relationships with clients with mental health illness, challenging behaviour, physical and emotional difficulties.

6. Ability to participate in supervision, personal appraisal and training opportunities.

7. Ability to actively support and promote equality issues in service delivery regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, linguistic background and disability.

8. Ability to understand and implement the values and purpose of an adult social care service.

9. Ability to provide a service that takes account of and respects the service user’s lifestyle, cultural and religious preferences and is responsive to their health and social care needs.

11. Skills in working directly with clients.

12. Ability to act as a key-worker/co-worker to designated clients.

13. Ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines, use initiative and prioritise with a minimum of direct supervision.

**Qualifications**:
1. A willingness to work towards attending and implementing the skills learnt in mandatory training sessions.

2. Has completed their Care Certificate.

3. Has completed their NVQ Level 2/3

A willingness to work towards NVQ Level 3 - _desirable_

**Other requirements**:
1. Ability to undertake and successfully complete training and development as required.

2. Ability to work a flexible rota, including bank holidays and weekends and to work waking nights on a rota basis.

3. Adaptable to change when required.

Full Driving Licence - _desirable_

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: £9.50-£10.50 per hour
