**About the Team**:
The Cost Estimating Centre of Expertise (EstCoE) is one of four functional areas within the wider Estimating discipline (alongside Risk, Cost Modelling and Scheduling). The EstCoE has been established to operate as the Functional Lead for Cost Estimating within CAAS and provide governance and guidance around how CAAS delivers its Cost Estimating products. The applicant will work in a high-profile team directed by DG Finance to position itself at the heart of Defence and provide leadership in Cost Management to Defence Agencies (DA) and Front-Line Commands (FLC).

The post reports to the EstCoE Section Leader, who is also the Cost Estimating Lead for CAAS to ensure cost estimates are managed, documented, reviewed, and controlled in an effective manner across operational and corporate teams.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**About CAAS as an organisation**:
CAAS has a proud heritage which dates back over 100 years to World War One when it was formed to prevent the munitions industry from overcharging the Government. The complexities of equipment procurement forced the government at the time to recruit its own technical cost engineers into the Civil Service, to advise commercial colleagues what non-competed contract prices should be paid to industry. This forms the heart of the purpose of CAAS.

Today, the CAAS team of circa 300 Cost Engineers, Cost Estimators, Cost Modellers Schedulers, Risk Analysts, efficiency & benefits experts and accountants provide expert independent costing advice to enable the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to make effective business decisions on procurement, support and wider Cost Management. CAAS provides dedicated teams to independently support customers across the MOD.

CAAS is geographically dispersed around the UK with offices close to or within sites of key Defence Industrial Suppliers.

**Job description**:
This Cost Estimator role is responsible for Cost Estimating/Cost Modelling activities within the CAAS Cost Management environment and will lead, supervise, and assure the preparation of cost estimates and the development of cost models.

As a Cost Estimating Senior Executive Officer (SEO), you will be the estimating lead for high-value, high-profile projects. You will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice and guidance on Cost Estimating, ensuring robust quality estimates are provided to customers to inform decision making by Senior Management.

As a Cost Estimating functional leader in the EstCoE, you will build relationships with Defence partners and develop cost estimating guidance, process and ‘good practice’ documentation as well as delivery of training across the department. You will be working alongside functional experts in Cost Management and in collaboration with other CAAS Centres of Expertise in Modelling, Risk, Scheduling and Cost Engineering.

As a SEO Cost Estimator of the EstCoE Team, you will be:
