An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly successful construction company in the Reading area to join the Finance Team as an Accounts Assistant. You will work closely with the Finance Manager to provide transactional support to cover nominal ledger,sales ledger, and purchase ledger along with transactional accounting and account reconciliations.
- **Job Type**:Permanent
- **Location**: Reading - Hybrid working available
- **Salary**:Up to £29,000 (depending on experience) + bonus
- **Working Hours**:42.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday flexible hours between 7AM - 4:30PM.

**As the Accounts/Sales Ledher Assistant, you will be responsible for**:

- Monthly sales ledger account reconciliations
- Chasing up overdue debts, including retentions
- Matching cash receipts to invoices
- Maintaining sales ledger customer accounts in good order dealing with issues and ensuring credit notes/rebates and other transactions are accurately recorded
- Setting up new clients

**Nominal Ledger**:

- Preparation and posting of journal transactions
- Monthly checks including account reconciliations
- Information for audit, tax and other regulatory matters
- Bank account reconciliations
- Assistance in other areas of finance, on general and ad hoc matters, to cover
- absence of others and develop new skills.

**Experience**:

- Part qualified or qualified bookkeeper, with AAT qualification, or someone with the ambition to become a qualified bookkeeper
- Some experience of Sage 200 accounting software would be advantageous
- Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Someone who pays attention to the detail and accuracy are key qualities, with an ability to self-check and accurately process transactions
- Willingness to ask others and work with others, with strong understanding of the requirement for accuracy and understanding of the processes and individual customer contracts and agreements
- Task focused, with excellent attention to detail but with desire to fully understand all the implications of the task and avoid giving customers reasons not to pay
- Willing to learn, train and develop in the role taking on more responsibility as knowledge and skills develop
- Good team player with a strong drive
