WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
RBSL are currently looking for an Occupational Health Lead Practitioner to join our dynamic HR function at our Telford site. The role will offer you the opportunity to work for one of the world’s leading makers of military vehicles and systems within a fast paced dynamic environment where trust, respect and transparency are core values.
Reporting into the Head of HR, you will take a lead role in the provision of an Occupational Health (OH) service for the business, holding a comprehensive technical understanding of occupational health standards and practices. The role holder will be an experienced occupational health professional who will have the responsibility for ensuring all clinical activities are self completed in accordance with relevant clinical governance requirements, and any relevant standards to which the business is certified.
The role will play a key part in bringing the OH function in-house and will need to drive this transition around systems, set up and management day to day. Utilising a strong understanding of occupational health requirements within the workplace, you will have the autonomy to introduce internal and external best practices that leverage your experience. The role will allow you to build valuable relationships with employees and relevant stakeholders across the business, and you will be expected to demonstrate integrity, credibility and maturity to help gain the confidence and respect of others as the OH lead.

**Summary of Responsibilities**
- Working closely with the Head of HR and Head of SHE to execute an Occupational Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy for the business, using targeted health management action plans that help to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the business to create Occupational Health standards that meet and/or exceed current U.K legal requirements.
- Undertake clinical activities in accordance with relevant clinical governance requirements and in compliance with any relevant standards to which the business is certified. This will include (but not be limited to):
- Health surveillance assessments
- Pre-placement screening referrals
- Manager referrals
- Fitness for work assessments
- First aid treatment
- Proactive health promotion
- Mental health support
- HAVS assessments
- Ergonomics programme support
- DSE programme support
- Assisting in OH assessments, audits and inspections
- Vaccination and/or travel medicals
- Ensuring onward referral to a Physician wherever appropriate.
- Support the focus and management of employee well-being on-site via industry leading initiatives and best practices.
- Leadership / Management training on occupational health standards to help increase awareness and reduce occupational ill-health impacts.
- Help support the businesses Social Values commitment towards improving health and wellbeing (Theme 5).
- Promoting healthy lifestyle choices & proactive in improving employee's health & well being.
- Support the business with a Critical Health Programme focused on targeting Chemical exposures (Occupational lung disease), Pyschological Safety & Well-being (Work related stress), Ergonomics (MSD's).
- Help to support the businesses mental health first aiders by advancing education and competency whilst maintaining engagement.
- Compile monthly occupational health key performance indicators that support management review.
- Identifying & preventing work related health problems.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- The role holder is required to be a Registered Nurse (Level 1) on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register and may also hold the specialist Occupational Health Practitioner qualification (Part 3 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register).
- Previous experience and ability to demonstrate previous results and performance in an in-house Occupational Health Practitioner role.
- You must be a team player with significant drive, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, resilient and an excellent communicator at all levels
- Discretion and pragmatism required at all times.
- IT Skills with a good level of computer competency required
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of professional accountability in the scope of professional practice.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to demonstrate results and actions to a wide variety of individuals.
