**Head of Data Science - PYTHON / NLP/ ML/ Edinburgh Hybrid Working**
This fast-growing savings and retirement specialists are looking for talented Head of Data Science, with big ambitions for the team and the future of the business it's an exciting time to join them.

From day one you will help build the data team to develop advanced analytics, data science and AI solutions to solve business problems. You will work with a variety of analytical teams, business leaders, and lead on a variety of use cases that will stretch from ad-hoc advanced analytics solutions, small-scale bespoke dashboards to deploying ML models.

**What you'll do**:

- Build and lead team of data scientists
- Establish best practices and deploy modern software development techniques to learn, build and scale data science solutions
- Work with the business to design and develop solutions to solve business problems
- Articulate how problems can be solve with data driven approach, build confidence in proposal and solution, create narrative, provide clarity and comprehension of solution
**What We're Looking For**:

Lead Data Scientist role, team lead oversight and innovation leader for data scientists, task management and allocation
- Broad experience of developing and deploying statistical and machine learning models (supervised and unsupervised)
- Essential - Python Expertise, SQL, Big Data (Spark), BI tool (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, QuickSight, Qlik)
- Modern software development experience and toolkit e.g., Git, code reviews, Data Science CookieCutter, Environments, Docker, Feature Stores, CI/CD
- Design of experiments e.g. A/B/N, multi-variate, sample size calculation, (part/fractional) factorial designs
- Database, data warehouse or data lake experience to build SQL packages, processes, queries and tune
- Data staging and integration, building pipelines, ELT, develop Feature Store for Data Scientists
- NoSQL, Network Graphics, Spark
- Cloud architecture e.g., AWS, MS Azure
**Key Competencies**:

- Data Science, Machine Learning and Analytical Skills
- Statistical knowledge and models, machine learning models, explainable and interpretable AI
- Supervised (e.g., linear / logistic, Random Forest. XGBoost), un-supervised (e.g., PCA, T-SNE or similar, clustering methods), SHAP, LIME, Shapley
- Nice to have - NLP / text analytics, simulation (e.g., bootstrap, Monte-Carlo), optimisation (e.g., integer programming, genetic algorithms), Bayesian, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning
- Nice to have - design of experiments e.g. A/B/N, multi-variate, sample size calculation, (part/fractional) factorial designs
