Our Dispenser/Receptionists perform a split role within the practice, they predominately based at The Surgery in Burgh Le Marsh, with regular days at Hawthorn Medical Practice, Skegness.
A dispensing qualification is essential for this role.
Experience of working in a busy GP dispensary is desirable
Experience of leading a dispensary team would be an advantage
Some the core responsibilities of the Dispenser/Receptionist include the follow (this list is not exhaustive).:
When based in Burgh Le Marsh
- Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately
- Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol
- Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary and ensuring stock is rotated appropriately
- Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring codes are entered correctly and the cold chain is maintained where applicable
- Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with Practice policy
- Safe disposal of returned and / or out of date medicines
- Ensuring uncollected medications are dealt with in line with standard operating procedures
- Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
- Process patient requests for appointments
- Processing hospital letters in accordance with GP instructions.
When based in Skegness:
- Process and effectively signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers’ requests appropriately
- Process patient requests for appointments
- Ensure any electronic tasks are dealt with in a timely manner
- Processing hospital letters in accordance with GP instructions.
