St Helens, United Kingdom Barnardo's Full time

The Senior Practitioner, reporting to the Team Manager, will provide leadership and line management for a team of Therapists and Mental Health Practitioners providing a service in each High School and every GP Surgery in St Helens (including Rainford, Billinge, Newton le Willows and Haydock). The Senior Practitioner will also deliver direct support to a number of children and young people across the service.

You will be expected to work Monday to Friday with some flexible working hours and travel across the borough and work in schools and community venues to make therapeutic assessments, lead and oversee interventions and line manage the therapists.

St Helens Resilience Service was developed through collaboration between Barnardo's and St Helens CCG, Public Health, Local Schools and Merseycare NHS Trust.

The overall aim of the service is to address and meet the emotional wellbeing needs of secondary school aged young people living in St Helens at the earliest point of intervention possible.

We offer a range of therapeutic interventions in secondary schools and in the community to improve emotional wellbeing and resilience and reduce the number of young people going on to need a formal referral into mental health and wellbeing services. This will be done through direct interventions with young people, and their parents, and through upskilling, resourcing and supporting workforce health and education colleagues in a variety of ways.

The team currently provides a direct service in 12 High Schools and offers consultation and support to GP practices in St Helens.
