We have an exciting opportunity for a Porter to join the team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison on the outskirts of Lancaster. HMP Lancaster Farms has operational capacity of around 550, and has good transport links from the motorway, and is close to public transport routes.

This is a fantastic new opportunity to join the healthcare team on site, ensuring that patients receive the best quality care, and the healthcare team are fully supported.

**Hours**:
This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00.

**Salary**:
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of between £24,924 - £27,582 per annum - depending on experience.

**What you'll be doing**:
As a Porter, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

- Provide a high standard of portering services and housekeeping, escorting visitors and contractors into and around the prison
- Deal with patients, healthcare colleagues and other professionals over the phone and face to face
- Carry out basic admin tasks, including answering calls, scanning, delivering post etc
- Deliver a tidy healthcare area, monitoring and ordering stock as necessary, paying attention to expiry dates and cost of equipment
- Work with the admin team to ensure paperwork is collected form the wings, as well as assisting the pharmacy in the transporting of medication

- Be able to lift and carry items around - there is a lot of manual handling involved
- Any previous portering experience would be beneficial
- Have good IT skills - any admin experience would be a bonus
- Excellent communication skills

- Able to work within a busy environment

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
