Healthcare Assistant: Physical Health in Mental Health

We have an exciting opportunity for a health care assistant who is passionate about improving the health of people with serious mental illness. This is a chance to develop your physical health skills and use the experience as a stepping stone towards the Associate Nurse Practitioner qualification.

In the first 12 months the main focus of the role will be to support patients to attend for their SMI health checks, working very closely with Bromley GPs, mental health practitioners in primary care and our physical health clinics in Beckenham Beacon and Carlton Parade. You will identify barriers for attending checks and work with staff to put in reasonable adjustments to increase uptake, for example accompanying patients to their health checks or supporting staff by undertaking some of the physical health checks and wellbeing assessments. Initially you will workacross four of our eight primary care networks (Penge, Beckenham, Orpington, and The Crays) where these networks cover over 60% of patients on the SMI Registers in Bromley.
