Residential Support Worker

Salary based on a full-time contract including additional sleep-in allowance based on x10 sleep-ins per month (approx. £6,183 per annum). Basic salary is £22,256 pa or £23,296 pa (£10.70 - £11.20 per hour) dependent on qualification.

Phoenix's Childcare Specialist Provision is expanding across Somerset with an existing home in North Petherton and two new homes near Bridgwater and Taunton. This essential service supports young people whose current placements may be at risk and their local authority does not have a relocation plan for them. We are therefore seeking resilient support workers who have past experience with challenging behaviour.

Working with a specialised programme, as a support worker you will help our young people stabilise their behaviours by implementing firm boundaries in a safe and nurturing environment and working with the rest of staff team to provide a consistent, positive and trusting relationship. In addition to the above you will also support our young people with the more routine aspects of life including household tasks, chores, attending appointments and maintaining contact with family and friends.

A typical day for a support team member will include;
Activities and days out when not a school day which can include anything from a quiet walk on the beach, cinema and bowling, a trip to London or further a field to theatre, a sports event or a concert (All expenses paid)
Every day household domestic tasks
A school run (we provide a vehicle for each child)
Home cooked meals and family style meal times
Supporting the children to maintain family relationships through visits and phone calls
Encouraging healthy and safe relationships with friends

No day is the same and likely not without its challenges however in the home you will be supported by the Registered Manager and Senior team members, as well as our Integrated Therapy Team who provide guidance and advice through reflective practice.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:
A full UK driving licence
Have resilience and patience in order to remain calm in challenging situations
Be qualified - and if not we will fully support you in gaining a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Our working week:
Looking after our children and young people is a 24/7 commitment therefore our rotas reflect a variety of shifts. Shifts generally cover a 24-hour period (which include a paid full nights sleep) however this means that your weekly hours will be completed over a couple of days and you get more days off than the mundane 9-5
