Housekeeper Cook in Scotland

Housekeeper Cook for a private shooting lodge in remote Scotland.

The Cook/House Keeper is employed to ensure that the Lodge is maintained to the highest standard possible. The Lodge should be always kept in a state of preparation for occupancy, allowing for family & guests to arrive at short notice. The standard of service,cleaning and general maintenance of the property is the highest level at all times.

Your role as Cook will be more prevalent when the principal and guests are in residence, your duties will include:

- food preparation
- meal/menu planning and management of food stocks, fridges and freezers in the Lodge
- organising shoot lunches and elevenses during the season. If a Chef is brought in for the shoot season, then you will act as their support.
- Using fresh produce that’s grown on the estate and using all ingredients ensuring mínimal wastage
- Someone familiar with making homemade jams/chutneys etc
- You will also assist in housekeeping including laundering, turn down service for all rooms, running errands and generally helping within the team.

When the Principals are not in residence then you date to day duties will be more housekeeper based:

- general day to day duties of maintaining the Lodge in good, clean working order
- Maintain a programme of thorough, regular, 'Spring Cleaning’ throughout the Lodge
- Polishing and buffing of the wooden floors with the help of other staff
- The cleaning of the inside of the windows including their thresholds
- All taps should be turned on and run and toilets flushed at least once a week
- Reporting and issues or maintenance problems to the House Manager
- Flower arranging and care of houseplants
- Any other adhoc duties asked of you

**Hours of Work**

Principals not in residence 08:00 to 16:00 with 5 days on and 2 days off out of 7. Generally, Mon - Fri.

Principals in residence Whatever hours are required to fulfil the criteria of the position. It is understood that weekends will be worked when Principals are in residence.

**Salary**: up to £35,000

Accommodation will be provided as a separate cottage within the grounds. Partners and well behaved animals are fine. All utilities are covered.
