**Job description**:
We are seeking to appoint an Estates Surveyor to join our Property Management team. This role has responsibility to support the management and delivery of the Met Office estate to effectively meet Met Office business needs.
The Met Office estate is complex with many different types of assets in the UK and overseas. These assets vary in size from small enclosures to the corporate headquarters in Exeter.
You will join a busy and friendly team reporting to the Estates Manager at this world-leading organisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join an in-house property function to support and deliver comprehensive multi-disciplined Property Management solutions for the continued development and management of the diverse commercial and operational Met Office Estate.
Working with the Estate Manager, this varied and busy role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the strategic management of the Met Office property portfolio to deliver an estate which meets all relevant compliance and Met Office business requirements, providing the right accommodation and estate solutions in support of all teams across the organisation.
This will involve providing professional advice on a wide variety of matters including Landlord & Tenant and supporting the effective delivery of projects across a diverse property estate. The role requires close liaison with colleagues and customers across the Met Office as well as other government departments and external professional bodies.
**Responsibilities**:
As our Estates Surveyor, the key duties are:
- Support the Estates Strategy - understand business drivers and contribute to development of strategic asset management plans and estates strategy.
- Property Portfolio Management - manage Landlord & Tenant relationships, maximise performance and optimisation of the property portfolio ensuring the estate is managed in accordance with required standards.
- Acquisition & Disposals - support the Estates Manager with identification, appraisal and acquisition of temporary and permanent sites and disposals strategy.
- Property Data Management - knowledge of property data management systems and Government Data Standards.
- Cost Management - supporting the Estates Manager with estate portfolio cost information and budgeting.
- Stakeholder Engagement - build partnerships and maintain good relations with key internal and external stakeholders and advisors. Communicate technical and complex issues clearly to a range of stakeholders, particularly where there are risks to delivery.
- Planning & Development - advise on feasibility of planning permission and planning policy on matters in support of Met Office business requirements.
