Domestic Abuse Worker

Area of work: Knowsley

Office Location: Huyton

Responsible to: Community Domestic Abuse Manager

Hours: 35 per week until April 23

**Salary**: £27,996.40 plus 6% Employer Pension Contribution

Purpose of Job:
Offer direct support, information and signposting to victim/survivors including facilitating group work while ensuring their safety, and their children’s safety, remains at the forefront of the work. To deliver a quality service to victim/survivors of domestic abuse ensuring compliance with the requirements of funding bodies are adhered to. Act in accordance with the values and aims of The First Step.

Client work and liaison

1. In co-operation with the service manager to develop and maintain information and support services for victim/survivors within a sensitive and responsive service

2. Using the Merseyside Risk Indicator Toolkit (MeRIT) assess the level of risk and implement the appropriate interventions

3. Agree an individual safety plan with clients and ensure actions are completed

4. To provide direct support to victim/survivors including face to face and telephone support

5. To provide advocacy on behalf of clients with external agencies where appropriate

6. To work with victim/survivors, staff and volunteers in developing self help groups, programmes and networks both within the Old Schoolhouse and other venues and to facilitate group programmes with victim/survivors

7. Refer on and arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessary, for example: solicitors, benefits agencies, TFS colleagues etc. Ensuring clients get the services to which they are entitled and following the procedures and protocols with other services to ensure the safety of the client is kept central to any process.

8. Compliance and Attendance with relevant Safeguarding Adult and Children procedures and meetings.

9. Note and feedback to other agencies/services any consistent difficulties clients are having accessing their service

10.To prepare reports for other agencies in line with Data Protection

11.To participate in ensuring service users and agencies are aware of the service by means of information literature, liaison with other agencies, agreed publicity, presentations or workshops about the work of TFS

12.To participate in representing TFS as required at meetings, seminars and conferences

13.To be aware of the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults including the policy/procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Boards

13.To attend clinical supervision

Volunteers

1. Support the service manager in the supervision of any volunteers as needed and to contribute to the day to day support, advice and back up to volunteers.

Administration

1. To maintain client records of all work undertaken and prepare reports as required, ensuring effective reporting to the senior worker as required

2. To maintain up to date information on legal, housing and welfare issues relevant to domestic abuse

3. To use the agency database (OASIS) for case management

4. To contribute to the production of statistical and other reports on work done with victim/survivors to meet the requirements of TFS, funding bodies, Local Authority.

5. To comply with monitoring and evaluation requirements of appropriate bodies e.g. TFS, KMBC

6. To be self servicing in terms of word processing, reports, letters, e mails and all administration needs

7. To undertake evaluation questionnaires with clients using TFS services and co-operate in the ongoing evaluation of TFS services

8. To assist in presentations or workshops about the work of TFS, and in representing the service as required at meetings, seminars and conferences

Service Development

1. Develop positive working relationships with external agencies and relevant professionals to support the delivery and development of quality services that meet the needs of service users, ensuring the interests of The First Step are protected.

2. To participate in enabling evaluation procedures to be undertaken and results disseminated

3. Promote service user empowerment by working with service users to develop appropriate methods and techniques to enable them to express their views and inform decisions

4. Engage with regular team meetings and actively contribute to the development of the service.

5. Undertake training as required as well as identifying training opportunities for continuous professional development.

Other

1. To attend and contribute to team meetings, team facilitation and forward planning events that are organisation-wide
