We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Weekend Logistics Chargehand (Blue hat) at Hinkley Point C.

Reporting to the Logistics Manager your main role will be to supervise operatives ensuring they are working safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes. You will be responsible for delivering familiarisation, competency training and toolbox talks and you will keep records for audit purposes. This will be a very busy role with conflicting priorities, and we are looking for someone who wants to join us who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work with blue and white collar workforce. You will be part of a great team, who are supportive and friendly.

**A typical day in the life as a chargehand (Blue Hat)**:

- Planning the logistics activities for your shift period with the client (MEH) construction team
- Ensuring the daily tasks are clear and that POWRA are completed
- Ensuring a smooth take over and handover between shifts
- Ensuring Operatives are briefed regularly
- Ensuring toolbox talks and safety stand downs are delivered and recorded
- Complete and deliver DABs to the workstream daily
- Collection of data and delivery of planned material and equipment moves from logistics coordination team.
- Ensures Logistics team have the correct incident and safety cover in place
- Provide mutual support to other MEH Chargehands & Operatives
- Maintaining Logistics equipment in construction areas
- Maintenance and management of allocated controlled stores in compounds and BAAs
- Providing Handling and transport arrangements for Material movements
- Providing high quality housekeeping services throughout MEH compounds and work areas

**What are we looking for?**
- A CITB Supervisor H&S test (to be completed before the start date).
- SSSTS Certification (or working towards).
- Previous Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a centralised construction logistics team.
- Demonstrate knowledge of material storage processes.
- Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
- Provide evidence of the ability to deliver clear verbal instruction and provide written reports where necessary.
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.
- Demonstrate reliability and have strong time management skills in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability
- Demonstrate through experience, the qualities of a supervisor.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and experience of stores accounting.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the management of Calibration, P.A.T and thorough examination processes.
- An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity.
- An interest in and commitment to the work of Wilson James for its clients.
