**CHILDCARE MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS**

Successful applicants will work full time in a nursery whilst training to achieve an SVQ Level 3 in _**'Social Services, Children and Young People'**_. _Once achieved this will allow you to work as a fully qualified Early Years Practitioner (Nursery Nurse). During your apprenticeship, you will work as part of the nursery team, learning to provide the highest level of early-years education and care to all children attending the nursery and delivering excellent customer service to parents and carers.

**You will receive on-the-job practical training from qualified colleagues within the nursery, and unlimited academic support from a dedicated Childcare Management Assessor, who will visit you every month to teach, assess and support your progress while working towards your achievement of the qualification.**

**Duration**:On average, 15 months, however some individuals may qualify in less time, some may require more, as the course is tailored to the individual’s learning style and needs.

**Some of the skills and duties you will learn include**:

- Observing & recording children’s development
- Following policies and procedures
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Creating fun-filled learning experiences through play
- Preparing snacks/lunches for children
- Undertaking personal care of children (toileting/nappy changing)
- Setting up resources and playrooms
- Outdoor play with the children
- Related hygiene/domestic duties

**Education/Qualifications/Training**

Preferred: Nat. 5 pass in English.

Required: A minimum of 3 x National 4 passes, one of which should be English

**Experience**:
Previous experience is not necessary, however, a genuine desire to work with children is

**Personal Qualities**
- **Must be committed to achieving the SVQ Level 3**
- **Must be trustworthy and reliable, with a good attendance and timekeeping**

**Helpful information**:
A Modern Apprenticeship means that you will receive on-the-job training within a nursery as you work towards a nationally recognised qualification. As an employee in training, you will be paid a minimum of **£6.40 per hour** for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship (some employers offer a higher rate of pay). Thereafter, those **aged over 19** are entitled to an increase to National Minimum Wage (based on age). All apprentices are entitled to paid holidays each year.
