**Salary**: £25,000.00

24-38 hour contract considered.

**Place of Work**

The primary location of this role will be at our Head Office but agile working across the North Yorkshire region will be required to attend Outreach activities and volunteer recruitment events if and when required. You will also be required to travel independently to a range of different residential locations when required as identified by yourself and the management team as part of this role.

**Purpose of the job**:
You will be responsible for the administration, co-ordination and growth of our volunteers including recruitment and retention, ensuring we can increase our capacity to run more activities and events and generate fundraising income. You will also co-ordinate and manage the befriending service, which provides support to isolated clients, through home visits, telephone calls or other forms, to reduce feelings of loneliness or exclusion because of a sensory loss. The role also involves promoting the Wilberforce Trust, ensuring high quality matches between volunteers and the activities they will complete, especially befriending.

**Main Duties**:
**Volunteers**
- Working with other team members, generate volunteering opportunities and generate clear role descriptions based on organisational needs
- Recruit, interview and onboard volunteers across all business areas.
- Complete volunteer inductions and onboarding, including their training, DBS checks and their placement in the organisation.
- Design, deliver and facilitate accessible, inclusive training programmes for volunteers with a range of needs and requirements.
- Provide support and monitoring to volunteers, with a focus on reward, recognition and retention.
- Ensure that all volunteer activities and events are fully compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements including health and safety, adult and children safeguarding and the General Data Protection Act (GDPR).
- Ensure best practice in all aspects of volunteer management including reimbursement of genuine out of pocket expenses.
- To seek guidance and advice from the Head of compliance, Governance and Quality to ensure recruitment and volunteer activities are compliant with the relevant and current regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, data, and statistics to monitor progress against objectives and targets, and to support departmental and organisational reporting on volunteer activity
- Visit groups, clubs and organisations in community settings and use your enthusiasm and knowledge to talk about the work that the Wilberforce Trust does and gain volunteer interest.
- Work with and provide practical support to colleagues who wish to recruit volunteers
- To network and build relationships with other organisations where required.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within and outside of the Wilberforce Trust.

**Befriending**
- Play an integral role in the matching process connecting volunteers and scheme members for friendship and company.
- Listen carefully to the needs of scheme members.
- Conduct reviews with volunteers and clients, focusing on client outcomes.
- Provide support, training and supervision to the volunteers.
- Identify appropriate and mandatory training needs for volunteer befrienders.
- Build relationships with referral agencies and community partners

**General**:

- Identify and attend meetings and events aligned with the organisation or the recruitment of volunteers or befrienders
- Continuously review both services for improvements
- Keep up to date with key legislation, policy and best practice relating to the services
- Work to agreed deadlines and objectives
- Manage both services in line with a budget
- To provide updates on any accidents and incidents to the Sensory Business & Activities Manager or Head of Compliance, Quality and Governance.
- To maintain detailed, accurate and up to date records in all areas of your remit
- To help raise the profile of the Wilberforce Trust and to promote the work that we do.
