Kelly services, working on behalf of our bespoke client are looking to recruit a Chemistry Graduates on a permanent basis to work at our clients site in Kent.
**Responsibilities**:
- Developing safe, robust and high yielding chemical processes using continuous flow methods and equipment.
- Designing, executing and analysing experiments to develop process understanding and optimise chemical reactions using laboratory automation.
- Performing laboratory experiments to develop process understanding using a One Factor at a Time (OFAT) and/or a Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology as appropriate.
- Remaining current with the process engineering and chemistry literature. Collaborating and preparing internal research reports and technical presentations.
- Developing a deep understanding of reactions using process intensification, gathering fundamental process knowledge to enable reliable scale-up and transitioning of processes to manufacturing.
- Contributing to bench chemistry in-person and you additionally will have knowledge of using analytical methods such as UPLC, HPLC, GC-MS and other techniques.
- Developing and validating analytical methods.
- Planning Projects and staff allocation and directing staff day-to-day activity.
- Studying processes using route scouting, catalyst screening, process development/optimisation, scale up.
- Preparing reports and presenting scientific results both internally and to our Clients.
- Providing technical support for developed processes during manufacture.
- Working collaboratively with other project team members.
- Maintaining current and accurate laboratory records that document all experimental results.
- Complying with all safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- A PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry with up to three years' relevant experience or a Master or bachelor's degree with six or more years' relevant industrial laboratory experience.
- A working knowledge of process chemistry and/or chemical engineering principles. Practical laboratory experience demonstrating scientific excellence, attention to detail and a passion for chemistry.
- A good understanding of fundamental principles of continuous processing from a laboratory and manufacturing perspective is desirable but not essential. On the job training will be provided with our specific technologies.
- Familiarity with in-situ UV/Vis and GC, UPLC, HPLC, and MS.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment performing experiments in a laboratory fume hood.
- Ability to perform complex data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills are also required.
- Good oral and written communication skills, to provide project updates and reports for internal and customer meetings/teleconference calls.
- You should have strong evidence of managing projects from start to finish, be methodical and scientifically rigorous in your approach and be able to lead in the organisation of the laboratory. Coaching and mentoring of team members who are less experiencedin process chemistry is required, as is excellent team-working.
- IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
