As the Personal Lines MGA Underwriting Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to drive, support and implement the pricing and underwriting strategy for allocated UK Personal Lines schemes. You will provide technical, distribution and business leadership to the Portfolio Management function and wider business areas.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

**What will you be doing?**

The role of MGA Underwriting Technical Lead will consist of these 5 main areas:
**Pricing Process, Framework & Systems**:
You will design, own and implement underwriting and Product oversight to execute great underwriting/pricing, ensuring effective framework controls are utilised to monitor and learn from impact of pricing/underwriting actions implemented.

**Market Pricing Function**:
You will be a key advocate by supporting and collaborating with the wider UK Personal Lines teams when assessing new initiatives. You will have a firm grasp of market influences and key competitors across all appropriate markets.

**Planning & Strategy Development**:
You will lead planning and forecasting process for allocated portfolios and innovate to ensure robust and effective planning techniques and optimise process

**Leadership, Team Development & Direction**:
You will manage a team of portfolio managers/ analysts and communicate and embed strategies, methodologies and behaviours across the wider underwriting and pricing teams. Development is important to us and you will play a key role as an advocate for personal and professional development across underwriting and beyond, taking an active role in setting the bar high.

**Customer and Partner Interfaces**:
In order to proactively deliver real change to your key stakeholders, you will be able to add real value to your partners that will support the delivery of the strategy that leads to profitable growth.

You will also support the negotiation for new and current business relationships that we have.

**What are we looking for?**- Experience in the pricing and underwriting of business obtained from the personal lines or commercial market.- Experience and skills in the underwriting / pricing and negotiation of scheme arrangements.- Strong portfolio management experience and skills.- Strong leadership and influencing skills.- Strong skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating.- Demonstrates strong presentation skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals both internally and externally.- Solutions and service focused.- Advanced and in-depth knowledge of products and line/s of business.- Excellent analytical skills with an ability to turn analysis into insight and business decisions.- Awareness of the financial dynamics of a Personal Lines portfolio (i.e. expense allocation, return on capital requirements and the like).- Market, financial risk and business awareness.
