Summary We’re looking for a Project Manager to deliver the implementation of management measures on our coast including for; existing flood and erosion defences, sediment and sedimentation management, habitat creation / restoration and infrastructure matters associatedto access and recreation both along the shoreline and for water-based activity (for example jetties, footpaths, trackways, causeways, and launching areas).
What it's like to work here Our Midlands and East of England (MEE) Region (covering the coastal counties of Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex) has responsibility for the management of over 100 miles of open coast and estuarine shoreline for nature conservation, landscape, andbuilt heritage assets.There are a range of issues faced by these coastal properties that require a broad range of coastal management solutions including adaptation for climate change and sea level rise impacts.
We’re facing a climate and nature emergency that requires actions to be taken with the long-term horizon in clear view, where sustainable solutions are implemented in an effective and efficient manner so we may maximise the impact that we have as a conservationcharity.The National Trust has ownership of properties that allow us to make genuine commitments to managing the coast for the next 100 years and beyond.
What you'll be doing You’ll be focused on delivery to time and budget, following established (National Trust) project management systems and principals.You’ll interface with Project Boards to ensure focus on the outcomes is achieved in tandem to the activities of our individualproperties and the appropriate governance is applied.
You’ll work in a small passionate coastal team, across a number of properties and projects to help deliver for nature and the environment, supporting the development of our Coastal Adaptation Strategies.
Who we're looking for We’d love to hear from you, if you have the following skills and experience:
- Experience in delivering coastal projects and with expertise, creativity, and vision.
- Familiar with CDM and the range of Permits Licences and Consents required to deliver coastal works
- Able to establish realistic project plans and programmes associated to that and other project drivers.
- Used to creating and managing Contracts for consultants and contractors covering disciplines such as coastal engineering, dredging, habitat (re-) creation, etc
- Have a suitable qualification in project management or agree to committing to the National Trusts PMQ training.
- You’ll be used to multidisciplinary teams, working with a range of other specialists, internal and external
- Experienced and confidence to work alone and understand when to draw on the skills of others
- Excellent communicator, able to link to external partnerships and/or funders
You’ll have the opportunity to travel to our great coastal properties and access remote areas sometimes over rough, steep, or unstable terrain or by boat.
