H1 is an 8 bedded Medical High Care Unit, specialising in the care of critically ill Level 2 patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Health Care Worker with relevant experience to join our team. You must be able to demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach to caring for patients, and the ability to relate positively to patients, staff and visitors. You will assist the specialised nursing team to provide personal care to the patients to ensure a high-quality service and deliver an overall safe and good experience for all our patients
You will also be responsible to order patients’ meals, respond to changes in patient’s nutritional needs, and respecting choices. You will support with some administration and housekeeper duties in the absence of the Housekeeper.

Main duties of the job
The Medical High Care Unit admits patient that require Acute Medical intervention and support with Non-Invasive Ventilation resulting from Acute / Chronic Respiratory Failure, Tracheostomy Care/ Gastrointestinal Bleed / Renal Support resulting from either Chronic or Acute Kidney Failure requiring dialysis/ Diabetic Keto-acidosis to list a few.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Support Worker with relevant experience to join our team. You must have a flexible attitude to work, as you will need to be able to participate in a variety of shift patterns to meet service needs. Experience of working in an acute environment and computer skills would be desirable.
You must provide support to nursing staff on admission of patients, weight taken and recorded. Ensure patients nutritional needs are met feeding/drinking as necessary. Recording and monitoring dietary intake of patients including fluid restriction and alert nursing staff.
Assist patients with toileting, measure and record body waste/fluid balance accurately. Assist patients in maintaining their personal hygiene, religious, cultural and personal preference, ensuring privacy and dignity at all times. Assist patients with their mobility requirements, utilising equipment as directed, adhering to moving and handling procedures. Assist in the care of patient’s pressure areas and prevention of pressure sores, recording and maintaining relevant documentation.

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
Desirable criteria
- Care Certificate
- NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
- Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
- Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
Skills & Abilities
