Our Client is a fast-growing civil engineering practice, working with top architects and clients to create fabulous buildings.

They are currently looking for a full time**Finance Director**on a permanent basis. They pride themselves on a dynamic, stimulating and enjoyable work environment that delivers real value to their clients.

**The role will involve the following**:
Responsible for the efforts, results, and success of the business's finance department. Provides financial advice and support to help senior executives make key decisions. Ensures that the organisation follows all legal and statutory requirements in relationto its financial behaviours. Ensures that the finance department follows all internal controls, policies, procedures, and practices.

**Finance Director Key Accountabilities**:

- Oversee, review, and adhere to the annual budget for the business
- Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation
- Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed
- Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
- Supervise and provide cover to the Finance Manager and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
- Internal projects:

- Identify, evaluate and propose new ways of working
- Process management and implementation of new systems
- Change management across the business to accommodate new working practices
- Prepare financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis with inputs from the finance team
- Analyse the financial climate and market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future
- Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk
- Contract auditing, banking and other financial services
- Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants
- Annually review and incept the general and employee insurances
- Update and implement financial policies and procedures
- Establish and implement a training program for finance employees
- Attend Board Meetings
- Maintaining clear records of any profit shares paid to Directors, and any capital and tax accounts held for the Directors
- Assist with the strategy of property development and ensure all financial transactions regarding the property developments are correctly accounted for
- Set and maintain a tax strategy for the business and the property developments

**Finance Director Essential Competencies**:
Excellent Financial skills with experience of leading financial teams

Excellent communication skills both written and oral

Experience of change management and system implementation with non-financial stakeholders

Superior attention to detail, planning and problem-solving, analytical and mathematical skills

Excellent IT skills including Advanced Excel and familiarity / knowledge of various

Working experience of accounting packages

Thorough understanding of business principles and practices and competitor analysis

Ability to work independently and take responsibility

**Finance Director Essential Qualifications**:
**Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 5-9 years post qualification experience**

**Preferable but not essential**:
It is considered advantageous to have experience from within a professional services firm working in this sector (ideally architects, engineers or similar property development consultants).
