**Nursery Assistant - Early Years**

**£20/£21k approx**
Superb opportunity with an exciting Childcare business, that operates across Essex and London. This role is based in a beautiful Nursery setting in Cambridge.
**Purpose of the job**:To work as a key person and as part of the nursery team under the direction of the room leader, to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children. To maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment
**Requirements**:
- Minimum Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
- Knowledge of child development
- Awareness of health and safety requirements within the nursery
- Knowledge of regulations in relation to Child Protection/Safeguarding Children's Board
- Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 0-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity
- Sound knowledge of EYFS
- Knowledge of the statutory framework for the regulation of childcare provision
- A commitment to the provision of high quality childcare
- Understanding of the importance of equal opportunities in the workplace
- A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities
- Effective communicator oral and written
- Neat and professional appearance
- Positive and passionate about childcare
- Good organisational skills, record keeping and planning skills
- Competence to work to Regulatory Body Standards and Company Standards
- Ability to support Manager, Deputy and Room Leader
- Professional approach to parents
- Reliable and trustworthiness
- 2 references ideally
**Responsibilities (Operational, Personnel & Health & Safety)**:
- Support and liaise with the Manager, Deputy Manager and Early Years Team Leader on a daily basis
- Maintaining security
- Working within the required standard, ratios and conditions of registration
- Adhering to the Companies Policies and Procedures and complying with the Children's Acts of 1989 and 2004
- Possessing a thorough knowledge of OfSTED and effectively implementing these requirements
- Implementing the Companies Safeguarding/Child Protection Policy and Procedures
- Supporting and monitoring EYFS framework to ensure each child develops within a stimulating environment
- To take responsibility for drawing up daily, weekly and sessional curriculum plans which take into account the requirements of the EYFS
- Completing children's developmental and observation records
- To help set up the playroom/s for the daily routine and to help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times
- To act as a key person to a small group of children. Liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met
- Ensuring the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children
- Adhering to Company Policies and Procedures
- Supporting the Manager, Deputy Manager and Early Years Team Leader in organising and attending a minimum of two parents/carers evenings per year
- Supporting the Manager, Deputy Manager and Early Years Team Leader in organising and attending events that publicise the nursery; these may include fundraising charity events and open weekends
- Supporting the Manager, Deputy Manager and Early Years Team Leader in developing and maintaining links within the local community to create a positive nursery profile
- Supporting the Manager, Deputy Manager and Early Years Team Leader in creating and maintaining successful partnerships with parents/carers
- Ensuring close supervision of children during all meal times and adhering to the allergy and dietary requirements of all children within the nursery
- Following the Companies procedures for the positive management of children's behaviour
- Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by senior management
- Supporting students, volunteers and regular visitors to the nursery, including staff from Partyman World who may cover on occasions
- Providing a positive role model to colleagues, students and visitors to the nursery
- Attending regular staff meetings
- Attending regular internal and external training
- Complying with health and safety legislation
- Remaining aware and observant of all health and safety issues in the nursery and where possible reducing the risk of any accident, even in the absence of a risk assessment
- maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness/tidiness within the nursery
- Carrying out health and safety checks as outlined with the Companies Policies and Procedures
- Adhering to the health and safety procedures including the carrying out of risk assessments
- Being aware of the outcome of risk assessments and fully implementing the specified controls
- Completing accident, incident, sudden illness records effectively
- Ensuring the Companies medicine procedures are adhered to
- Maintaining allergy management systems in line with Company Policy and Procedure
