Copywriter - Maternity Cover

We have 99 retail stores, serviced by 9 distribution centres and a support centre based in Sunderland. For over a century, ScS has been providing customers with an excellent customer experience, selling beautiful products with outstanding value, quality and choice. Our primary product focus is in retailing sofas, flooring and dining, helping customers to create the home they’ll love.

The role on offer is based at our Coventry Digital Lounge. We operate a hybrid working structure, giving you the flexibility to split your working pattern between office and home.

**What’s the opportunity?**

The Social Media Executive is responsible for writing engaging SEO-focused content, including product descriptions, lifestyle articles and buying guides that captures the audience's attention and drives action. You will create inspiring content from a brief and deliver to the required timescales and quality. Your content will support new channels for home enthusiasts to engage with ScS.

**What does the role involve?**
- Support the Social and Content Manager in delivering the content strategy, through the creation of inspiring and engaging written content, which can be utilised across channels, to drive traffic to the website traffic and to encourage consumers to take action wherever they are in their buying journey.
- Work to a content brief (that includes keywords, format, word count, deadline) to create content that serves a clear objective.
- Create content that is of exceptional quality (spelling, grammar, punctuation, tone, readability, adherence to digital best practices, including SEO)
- Be able to write effectively for different content formats, such as product descriptions, long form articles and FAQs.
- Identify key stakeholders across the business who can provide insight to help with content development.
- Take ownership of measuring the performance of your content and understand how it delivers against business objectives and identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Champion the brand’s tone of voice to ensure it is consistent and reflects the company’s ethos.
- Establish efficient ways of working so that output can be benchmarked for future planning purposes.
- Support the Senior Content & PR Executive in establishing Editorial Guidelines to ensure quality is consistent and maintained at all times.
- Support with ad hoc content enhancement initiatives, as required.
- Support in the publishing of content via our CMS, as required.
- Support the Content Team in taking the wider business on the Digital journey, ensuring stakeholders understand the content landscape and the role it plays for ScS.

**Who are we looking for?**
- A passion for content writing and understanding the part it plays in serving customers and delivering against business objectives.
- Exceptional writing skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- A creative thinker, but with a clear focus on the key objective.
- Confident in feeding back and making recommendations.
- A passion to deliver excellent customer service.
- Understanding of the wider digital marketing landscape and how well-written content plays its part.
- Proactive and confident in building excellent working relationships with stakeholders/ teams both in-person and remote.
- Ability to prioritise workload and output against deadlines.
- Proven experience with 3+ years as a copywriter, ideally within the homewares market
- Demonstrable background of high quality content creation with a focus on SEO
- Experience of creating content to optimise the customer journey
- Knowledge of metrics to measure the performance of your content and how this impacts overall business KPIs.
- Experience of SEO tools would be an advantage.
- Experience of working in a high performing, fast-paced team.
