Supervisor - Education Mental Health Practitioners
1 week ago
This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and innovative CAMHS workforce in Oxfordshire.
Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) have been set up in response to the Government’s Green Paper in 2017. They aim to increase access to mental health support by delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people (CYP), in both Educational and Health settings. As such, Oxfordshire MHST works with CYP presenting with mild-moderate low mood or anxiety.
Working within Oxfordshire MHST, your role will be to supervise EMHPs and help them to develop their role. Supervision consists of Case Management Supervision following a low intensity model. This may include supporting trainee EMHPs (Band 4) and/or qualified EMHPs (Band 5). In addition, you will be involved in triaging and allocating referrals. You will also have line management responsibility for our third sector Youth Workers, and will have a leadership role in the development of the whole school approach (WSA), working alongside the WSA lead.
The post-holder will work within the MHST Team, within the child and adolescent mental health service providing low intensity interventions & offering supervision with additional managerial duties as required. The role is hybrid, meaning clinical work can take place in schools, the clinic base and on occasions, remotely.
You will also hold a small caseload and will develop good working relationships with schools. You will have a post-graduate CWP/EMHP Supervisor qualification.
The Oxfordshire MHST currently consists of Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) delivering 1:1 and group interventions. Alongside this the team also consists of youth workers and high intensity CBT therapists. In addition, EMHPs and youth workers work closely with local schools to support them in adopting a ‘whole school approach’ to mental health and wellbeing, to improve outcomes for CYP, parents/carers and staff.
Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:
- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
To apply, you will need some knowledge and experience of CBT, or other evidence-based interventions.
The role will involve offering a range of low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based treatments, along with offering assisted self-management interventions to young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
The post-holder will also offer parent-led pieces of work, focusing on addressing challenging behaviour and child anxiety. The role will be focused on working with children, families, and the education setting. The post-holder will have opportunities to develop skills in working with schools and delivering on the whole school approach. The potholder will work clinically alongside offering supervision to EMHPs/CWPs.
**Please note**:
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
- Oxford Health is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
