Operational Delivery Leader

We have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and proactive Operational Delivery Leader in the Materials and Mechanical Metrology department. Reporting into the Head of department, you'll be a key member of the leadership team and will work alongside others to ensure that the department is supported by effective procedures and suitable facilities, including at hub locations and other NPL sites. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with appropriate governance including quality, health, safety, security, and environmental legislation to support operational delivery.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to:

- define and deliver departmental strategies for operational delivery
- define and manage a skills matrix and skills development to ensure appropriate and efficient distribution of staff resources across the department
- Support with succession planning
- ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to Health & Safety and Quality Control across the department
- Building strong relationships with current and future customers, exploring the potential for new and fruitful partnerships alongside other delivery leads
- Leading preparations for departmental audits and implement/deliver audit recommendations.
- Supporting the Head of Department with identifying and delivering improvements across the department by defining and implementing Change Programmes
- Leading on the build of the quality management system across all operating locations ensuring the Compliance Management System (CMS) data integrity and completeness of information is in place.
- Leading and planning successful operations across the infrastructure and determine how we scale these operations.

**What you can bring to the role**:
***Essential:

- You are able to motivate, lead and manage individuals and multi-functional teams
- You have a qualification in Project/Programme Management or equivalent experience
- You are familiar with MS Office Suite including MS Project and Excel
- You have experience in Strategy definition and writing/preparing Strategy documents
- You have experience in managing financial budgets
- You have excellent organisational and communication skills
- You can evidence knowledge of Change Management and experience in driving positive change
- You have experience of establishing quality assurance measures and implementing continuous improvement and audit recommendations.

Desirable:

- Experience in developing and defining procedures and policy
- A track record of working in and establishing new robust partnerships with collaborators and customers
- Ability to drive culture change and improve equality, diversity and inclusion
- Experience building and developing high performing, cross functional teams
- Experience in monitoring and improving performance through the definition of KPIs and analysis of performance metrics/data
