Barking & Dagenham Children’s Care and Support Services are embarking on an exciting journey of transformation and improvement. There has been impressive Council commitment to investing in our services. This investment is allowing us to increase capacity, to reduce caseloads and increase opportunity for front line managers to provide robust support and oversight.
One such investment is our Specialist Intervention Service. In this service, we have created a hub of preventative intervention offers to assist in reducing the number of children who enter the care system, as well as improving their life chances and safety.
We are looking to appoint two creative, innovative, dedicated, and passionate **Family Group Conference/Restorative Intervention Coordinators **into our team**.** You will be allocated work as a coordinator of Family Group Conferences as well as facilitate **restorative intervention**, **mediation** and support a groupwork programme. You will be working with a team of skilled workers in a busy service.

**Special requirements for this post**:
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an Enhanced Children’s Department of Barring Services check
**About you**:
You will be an effective communicator with the ability to organise and convene meetings wherein family members and relevant friends will meet to discuss issues pertinent to a child at risk and arrive at solutions that will enhance the child’s quality of life and wellbeing.
You will be a skilled, motivated and caring practitioner who is able to engage children, young people and family members and use a variety of techniques to assist them in changing behaviour and support them to develop realistic and creative solutions.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well the ability to analyse complex information. You will be able to make confident decisions, whilst demonstrating an ability to incorporate a variety of theoretical models which build on families’ strengths and focus on their protective factors. You will have an understanding and experience of contextual safeguarding and will keep the child at the centre of your practise.
