Samples Operative

Flooring Superstore (Connection Flooring Ltd) is an award winning flooring retailer. After starting out online back in 2012, we have gone from strength to strength and have grown considerably in size. Flooring Superstore is our main brand selling a wide range of floor types, whilst Direct Wood Flooring and Grass Direct are more specialist brands focused on smooth flooring and artificial grass respectively.

As part of our continued growth, we began opening up retail stores over 8 years ago to compliment our online presence. Since then, we have opened 40+ stores nationwide, with many more planned to open in 2025 and beyond.

We will open a further 80+ stores over the coming 3-5 years to assist us in our quest to becoming the UK’s number 1 flooring retailer. Connection Flooring aim to provide a differentiated proposition to customers: providing low prices with market leading customer service.

As part of our growth, we are looking for a Samples Operative to join our Shildon site.

**The Job Role**:

- Picking and packing flooring samples
- Production/replenishment of flooring samples
- Use of PMHE (Table Saw, Hydraulic Beam press, Swing Arm Press & Heat
- Fusion Press)
- Project work producing Store & Trader display samples
- Effectively manage ordering of consumables & product for Samples
- Actively check & ensure stock accuracy
- Accurately monitor & ensure SWPs & SLAs

**The Person**:

- Previous warehouse experience
- Experience in any form of production machinery would be advantageous
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ambitious and driven
- Ability to learn and keen to develop within a growing team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to train and share best practices with others
- Positive attitude
- Experience managing stock and working to a high standard of accuracy
- Strong IT skills - experience working with computer systems such as WMS would be advantageous
- Fantastic attention to detail and good numerical skills
- Hardworking
- The job is physically demanding so you must be comfortable and confident with manual labour and using safe manual handling techniques

**Hours**:
You’d be required to work 42.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday 6am - 3pm although a high degree of flexibility is required to ensure availability at key operational times. This may include a reasonable amount of additional hours to meet business needs.

Due to the nature of our business, the workload can increase during peak times and day-to-day duties can vary which requires a flexible approach to working hours.
