The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, a world-leading cancer centre, is looking for a Private Ward Administrator for The Markus Ward. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated ward administrator who works well within a team and who shows great communication skills.
Markus ward is a 8 person, single-roomed, Private Patient medical oncology unit specialising in the delivery of inpatient chemotherapy regimens and management of symptoms caused by cancer and its various treatment modalities.
The post holder will be responsible for providing reception, administration and customer service for all patients and relatives attending the Private Care wards. We are looking for a staff member who is interested in working as a part time on Thursdays and Fridays. The post holder will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team, including nursing staff, medical staff, allied health professionals and other clerical staff both within the Private Care wards and throughout the rest of the Trust. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring hospitality and housekeeping issues are attended to and are of highest standards.
You will need to show outstanding communication and organizational skills. You will be able to prioritise your workload taking into consideration the needs of the ward and show an understanding of the need for confidentiality.
Previous hospital administration experience is essential.

- To provide excellent customer service to patients and their visitors on the work and on the telephone.
- To provide full clerical support to the ward.
- To assemble all relevant patient documentation in preparation for expected patients and arrange discharge or transfer of documentation when necessary, liaising with appropriate staff.
- To maintain an accurate electronic account of current and expected patients.
- To book patient appointments as directed.
- To maintain and update paper-based records and information as required, e.g. menus, requisition books, ward notices.
- To handles complaints and take appropriate action.
- To deliver and collect all items of post/parcels/equipment/specimens/drugs/x-rays and results to and from the relevant department
- To liaise with private patients accounts personnel regarding charging issues and maintaining appropriate statistical reports as directed.
