Hours: 37 hours a week, 40 weeks a year, flexible to meet the needs of the business
Responsible to: SENCO
**Responsible for**:
To assist in managing the provision for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN); including promoting high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all pupils.
**Main duties and responsibilities**:**
Leadership and management**:
- Assist in ensuring the academy meets their strategic and operational aims
- Attend meetings, as directed by the principal
- To line manage and appraise the SEN support
**SEN**:
To liaise with relevant outside agencies to ensure that the SEND needs of individual pupils are met effectively;
- Ensure that accurate and detailed records are kept of meetings and discussions with parents and outside agencies;
- Ensure that the SEN Register is kept accurate and up to date and that staff are kept informed of pupil special educational needs;
- Oversee EAL Provision at the academy
- Support the monitoring of the effectiveness of individual education plans;
- Support the SENCO in the curriculum development work of the SEN team;
- Support the SENCO in the devising, implementation and updating of the SEN policies and procedures which reflect the academy’s commitment to high achievement and effective teaching and learning;
- Provide guidance to staff on the choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of different pupils;
- Working with the SENCO to support the day-to-day management of the SEN team and areas to create a safe, effective and stimulating environment for the teaching and learning;
- To work with the SENCO to manage the resources allocated to pupils with SEND;
- To work with the SENCO to promote an inclusive
- To plan and deliver bespoke student provision.
**General responsibilities**:
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with this role
- Be aware of, and support, differences and ensure equal opportunities for all
- Work with the principal to promote the school within the local community using press and social media
- To adhere at all times to the Trust’s policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties
- Ensure that work is completed in compliance with relevant legislation and procedures relating to this role
- Ensure GDPR principles are embedded in normal working practices
- Post holders may be required to work flexibly in order to meet the business All staff are required to partake in performance management and training activities
- Be aware of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to report any concerns in accordance with the school’s safeguarding policy.
