This is a full-time 2-year fixed term post, working 37 hours a week. This post is at Grade 7 (£43,191 - £48,117).

Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic town planner with experience in local plan-making? South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council are looking for an ambitious policy planner committed to place-making and high-quality customerservice. We are looking for a professional, competent and enthusiastic people who are able to communicate well at all levels.
This is an exciting time to join the team. The immediate focus will be to play a part in preparing the Council’s first joint Local Plan - developing the innovative policies and site allocations to address the climate emergency and net carbon ambitions. Youcan expect to work on topics for the Local Plan and its evidence base, carry out research, help bring forward innovative policy solutions, be part of the digital planning revolution, and work with our neighbouring authorities on cross-boundary issues.
Both Council’s Local Plans are balancing the need for new homes and economic growth with the enhancement of the environment. We are part the government’s garden communities programme with a Garden Town and two Garden Villages, which brings opportunities touse skills in urban design, healthy placemaking, and a proactive approach to green infrastructure. We are also receiving significant investment in infrastructure, the prospect of nationally significant infrastructure planned in Oxfordshire, and we are involvedin collaborative work as part of the strategic level Oxfordshire Plan.
