**Electrical or Electronic Technician**
Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area
**Salary**: £25,250 - £35,850 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The Trials & Test Group are looking for an Electrical or Electronic technician to work with a mixed discipline electrical & electronic team to operate and maintain a purpose designed high voltage pulsed power system powering the Orion laser. The Pulsed Powerteam maintain and operate the 14 Capacitor Bank Modules that amplify the laser to its 1-petawatt output. This would be a good opportunity for someone interested in fault diagnosis of high voltage and mechatronic systems. Knowledge of Pulsed Power or high voltagesystems is not essential as full training will be provided.
Responsibilities will include:
- Support the day-to-day management of laboratory maintenance (maintaining stock, lab equipment and maintaining good working practices, etc).
- Routine maintenance and operation of the pulsed power system
- Maintain adequate records and documentation for the regulatory testing regime for electrical and electronic equipment
- Set up, operate and calibrate maintenance equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain adequate records and documentation in support of operations
- Organises own training and development under the guidance of a professional mentor
- Support the design, production and implementation of maintenance and uplift projects as required
- The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs
To be considered for the role you would ideally have a Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment and possess strong communication skills.
