We are looking for a Senior Support Worker who would wants to take the opportunity to step up and become a mentor and model for the new starters enrolling at our Kingsley House service.

Job Summary

The people we support want to be supported to live the lives they choose. This role provides skilled support to their staff to ensure they achieve this. This role also supports the mentoring, development and supervision of developing team members and assists with the smooth running and day-to-day management of the residential service.

This role will ensure that all new staff have the support they require to execute their job role to the best of their ability. You will be there from day 1 to support new employees and will support them all the way through until the completion of their Probation period.

What will I do?
- Assist to develop and maintain a responsive support service to autistic people.
- Ensure that support is provided in an effective, efficient and sustainable way resulting in outcomes in line with individuals’ support plans.
- Ensure people we support are involved in selecting their support team.
- Support new starters to play a supporting role in the development and maintenance of excellent relations with people we support and their relatives and advocates.
- Support new staff to develop the skills and confidence to play an active part in the development and regular review of person-centred support planning, including assessment of personal risk.
- Provide mentoring, peer support and assist with the development and day-to-day management of support staff. Tasks may include shift planning, overseeing the running of shifts, making changes to rosters in line with changing needs.
- Contribute to ongoing training and development of new starters.
- Assist with effective staff performance management in line with NAS’s policy and procedures for support staff (recruitment, probation, supervision, appraisal, learning & development, conduct, attendance etc).
- Assist with ensuring that staff have access to appropriate learning and development opportunities that ensure excellent support to individuals in line with support agreements and legal and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in ensuring all staff are informed about and work within NAS’s Policies and Procedures and are fully up to date with internal communications both in the Area and Organisation wide.
- To deputise for the Team Leader in their absence.
- Monitor probation reviews and new starter compliance. Ensure resolution of probation is communicated with all relevant departments.
- Identifying any issues and raising these in the appropriate forum.
- Updating training records, ensure the relevant copies of supporting evidence is held securely on site and communicate training information to relevant departments.
