**Music Therapy Research Assistant based in the London Area** **Fixed Term - Full Time/Part time hours avaliable.** **This is a fixed term contract for up to 5 months.** **This role is covering London, Surrey and the surrounding areas.** **Music Therapist Research Assistant sought to**responsible for processing information during the recruitment of participants and data collection at three specified time points for each of the three MusiCare studies **with older adults living in the community and in residential care settings** **About the role** We are looking for qualified music therapists, registered with the Health Care Professions Council, to support the delivery of an exciting new research project at MHA. MusiCare is a project funded by The Dunhill Medical Trust (UK) and led by Middlesex University (UK). Along with MHA, other partners include Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Padua University (Italy) and Vrije University (Belgium). In this project, we aimto investigate the possible positive benefits of a 5 month course of Music Therapy in older adults both living in the community and in residential care homes. MHA is the largest care charity in the UK: and a leading provider of award-winning music therapy in dementia care across the UK. Since its foundation in 2008, the Music Therapy Service as grown into a team of 30 practitioners working across 67 MHA homes.It has gained recognition nationally and internationally, and is regularly featured in media and has informed mainstream drama featuring storylines around dementia issues. As the largest charity care provider in the UK, we offer some of the highest quality care, accommodation and support services for older people throughout Britain. Our mission is to inspire the best care and wellbeing at every stage of later life. The Music Therapy Service aims to enhance quality of life and help personalise care in care homes. Over the years, we have continued to engage in research for the benefit of residents and have ongoing collaborations with the universities in the UK and EU.This project will include an expansion of the current music therapy service; providing music therapy for older adults living in the community. **About you** You will be working alongside the lead researcher using statistical database and data analysis software along with a range of other research techniques. You will be working independently and also as part of the wider research and MHA teams, collaborating with care teams, stakeholders in the research project and community and service managers. You will need to work sensitively in relation to the needs of the participants, communicating highly complex and sensitive information to a range of professionals with tact and discretion. You will be able to work in an often pressurised environment and flexibly as part of the multidisciplinary team in care homes and with Communities and Care Home Managers is essential.
