Nursery Cook

**JOB DUTIES**

**Health and Safety**

The nursery cook will be required to implement and ensure the Health and Safety, Heathy Eating and Allergen Management policy and procedures are met at all times.

To ensure that all foods are covered and safely stored prior to serving and during transportation to the nursery rooms.

To ensure that foods stored in the refrigerators and cupboards are covered and labelled.

Ensure that allergy management systems are in place.

To prevent cross contamination of food within the kitchen area.
To ensure the kitchen and equipment is kept clean, hygienic and in good working order, including all fridges and freezers, walls, ovens, floors and serving trolleys following the cleaning schedule. Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed and sterilized in accordance with food safety guidelines.

**Operational**

The nursery cook will be required to prepare meals and snacks to specification set in Banana Moon seasonal recipes.

To maintain the correct stock levels, regularly rotate stock and ensure all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates.

To ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and at an appropriate temperature for safe serving.

To ensure the correct food is served to children with known allergies using the ‘yellow plate system’, as notified to you by the Nursery Manager.

Support the Nursery Staff in their daily routines, assisting in the preparation of snacks and the cooking of foods prepared by the children.

To support the provision of learning opportunities and activities for the children.

To attend meetings and training when required.

To undertake such duties as reasonably requested by the Manager and to work in a flexible way on occasions that tasks arise which are not specifically covered in the nursery cook's job description.

**By Car**: we have plenty of onsite car parking and we’re about 25mins drive from Reading town centre

**By Bus**: Reading Buses (1 Jet Black) departs every 30mins from Reading town centre to Aldermaston Station

**Salary**: £9.50-£11.00 per hour
