We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, meticulous, hardworking and determined Head of Academy Medicine to join our business and perform a key role within our prestigious Academy at Nottingham Forest Football Club.

The role will contribute to the success and achievement of the Academy, striving for excellence and optimal service provision within the medical department. This will require management, coordination and supervision of all medical services provision for Academy players’ from our Pre Academy age groups through to our professional Development Phase age groups, whilst managing a pool of full and part-time medical staff to create a consistent and elite philosophy of evidence-based injury management principles.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**
- To lead the provision of medical services across the Academy through high professional standards of clinical Physiotherapy practice within the Medical Department, ensuring effective management of all players.
- To be the lead physiotherapist for any of our age groups as and when the programme dictates at both training and fixtures.
- To lead the development of evidence-based protocols for all areas of Physiotherapy within the Academy. There is an expectation to use all available resources including the latest research and collaboration with clinical specialists.
- To standardise the management of injuries by leading in the development and structure of injury rehabilitation guidelines.
- To lead and contribute fully within the Academy CPD program of the department, through both participation and delivery of material and inciting engagement in the internal emergency aid training program.
- To actively be involved in an interdisciplinary approach of working within the department that includes close links to all areas of the Club and first team where appropriate.
- To maintain all legal and professional qualifications in relation to the position within the Club.
- To create relationships with players, their parents and coaches to support injury rehabilitation needs as well as being the point of contact for parents when a player suffers an injury.
- To lead in the maintenance and security of the medical records for Academy players.
- To lead and direct as required the full and part time Academy medical staff in the organisation, completion and security of all medical insurance documentation and screening (cardiac, orthopaedic, osteopathic and podiatry) related to all Academy players.
- To observe, monitor and react to the ever-evolving world of sports medicine, keeping up to date with all current research developments and changes in professional regulations. Study leave will be considered on a case by case basis to help achieve this requirement as long as not to the detriment of the overall service.
- To ensure the latest clinical, scientific and technical innovations to practice are incorporated into maintaining the highest level of care.
- As part of the Sports Medicine Department to co-ordinate physio cover for both training sessions and Academy matches and be present as well as assist where needed.
- To maintain detailed records for all activities in the department in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and maintain medical confidentiality within the scope of practice at all times.
- To lead in the implementation of the department injury prevention protocols through assessment, analysis, delivery and auditing of collected data in line with KPIs.
- To fulfil the role of a Chartered Physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of all injuries and lead part time members of the department in their own professional development.
- To lead and coordinate the pre-signing medical assessments of all Academy players as required.
- To organise clinical referrals and accompany players to medical consultations ensuring best practice is followed at all times and ensuring the players receive optimal care and advice at all times.
- To help organise and deliver medical/health education program for training of Academy staff and players, ensuring excellent communication pathways with all management and coaching staff regarding player availability and optimal training strategies for all players.
- To work in conjunction with the Assistant Academy Manager and other department leads to ensure all requirements of the EPPP and Audit process that are relevant to this role are carried out at the appropriate time.
