Public Appointments is looking for a Public Appointments Administrator to join our friendly team. We are the central point of expertise for sponsor teams and Scottish Ministers on the recruitment process for Ministerial appointments of Board members and Board Chairs to the Boards of public bodies regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.
The team consists of a Head of Public Appointments, Head of Public Appointments Improvement and Outreach, 5 Public Appointment Managers, a Business Manager and 3 Public Appointments Administrators.
Public bodies play a significant role in every aspect of life in Scotland and appointing the right people to serve on their Boards is critical to providing the best possible public services. The Public Appointments Team is the central point of expertise for sponsor teams and Scottish Ministers on the recruitment process for Ministerial appointments of Board members and Board Chairs to the Boards of public bodies regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.
You will be joining a friendly and high performing team in a high-profile area working with Ministerial Private office and senior colleagues across Scottish Government.
**Responsibilities**:
- Working closely with the Public Appointment Managers for appointment rounds. This includes the preparation, collation and issue of relevant papers, administration support to selection panels during the appointments process, in addition to managing timetables and communications channels, including the use of social media.
Liaising with sponsor teams across Scottish Government, Ministerial Private Office and colleagues in public bodies about appointment activity including advertising, outreach and succession planning.
- Maintaining high administrative standards and exercising good judgement in handling personal, sensitive information and appointments data. Ensuring accurate record keeping and maintaining up to date statistics.
- Support the Head of Public Appointments and Head of Improvement and Outreach on aspects of the improvement programme, including assisting with the planning and delivery of events.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with confidence to engage with senior staff within the Scottish Government and public bodies.
- Ability to work as part of a team including the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a concern for accuracy.
