This is an exciting alternative career option open to RGN's and qualified Paramedics with 3+ years' post qualification experience.
Custody is both a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. The police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours and within this time, we provide a high level of care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependencyto acute medical episodes.
Our dedicated healthcare professionals are also fully trained to collect forensic samples which can assist the police with their investigations.
**Experience within forensics is NOT NECESSARY.**
As a Forensic Paramedic, you will work closely with the police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.
**Hours of Work** If you're struggling to maintain a good work-life balance and are looking for clearer boundaries, then this role could be for you.
The 4-on-4-off rota pattern will give you the ability to plan your personal life months in advance. The shift pattern comprises of two day shifts, two night shifts, then 4 days off.
**Duties Include**:
- Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods)
- Signposting and conducting referrals' offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending
- Delivering substance misuse therapies
- Assessment and care of detainees and staff in custody suites
- Acute disease management
- Promoting good personal healthcare
- Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs

**Essential Skills**:
- Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic
- A minimum of 3 years' post qualification experience Acute medical healthcare experience
**Desirable Skills** Previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role: A&E, Walk in Centre, Paramedic Practitioner, Substance Misuse, Community Nursing, Police Custody, Prison, Nurse, Paramedic, RGN, or other relevant discipline.
