We currently have exciting opportunities for two Assistant Psychologists to join the Somerset CAMHS workforce.

One post will be joining the busy Tier 3 CAMHS team, covering the West of Somerset and based from Foundation House, Taunton.

The other post will be joining our new therapeutic education programme and supporting lead psychologists in the development of the therapeutic model. This post will be countywide.

We are looking for individuals with previous Assistant Psychologist experience and a passion for improving outcomes for young people and their families.
- To conduct, where appropriate, clinical screenings / assessments, including the use of psychometric instruments on people who contact the service who have mental health problems.
- To support lead clinicians in service developing - including service design and training.
- To undertake a range of procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practice.
- To provide individual psychologically informed therapy/support to service users, referred to, or care co-ordinated, by the CAMHS Team utilising advanced counselling skills, cognitive-behavioural techniques and skills-based interventions.
- To use highly developed, persuasive, negotiating and education skills to liaise with mental health/other professionals/agencies as required with respect to assessment, treatment, and management of young people.
- To pursue relevant clinical interests by agreement with the Operational Services Manager and Senior Psychology colleagues.
- To provide training and consultation, as appropriate, to staff working with service-users referred to, or care coordinated by, the CAMHS Team.
- To participate within the continuing profession development of the CAMHS Team
