**Trainee Safety Rigger**

**The Company and the Industry**

StaSafe Limited is a company based between Stratford upon Avon and Evesham, Warwickshire, providing Temporary Fall Arrest Systems to the construction industry (Mainly Roofers, Metal Decking and Building Contractors) throughout the UK in the form of safety netting, edge protection and Haki towers.

The provision of safety systems to the construction industry has developed as a response to stringent legislation and the growing concern by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to the number of injuries and fatalities sustained by construction workers, working at height. There is an increasing demand for quality safety systems and qualified Safety Riggers.

**The Position**

We are seeking a suitable person to work on an employed basis and to train as a CSCS NVQ Blue Carded Safety Rigger. This varied and interesting employment opportunity involves supporting the work of the Operations Director, other Safety Riggers and our Sub-Contract Teams, installing net systems, temporary edge protection, Haki towers and managing and maintaining equipment both at our premises and on site. The role requires a self
- motivated individual able to work on their own initiative and as part of a close operational team to high standards. We would anticipate this Trainee role growing into a fully qualified Safety Rigger through an approved specific industry training. CSCS/FASET (Construction Skills Certification Scheme / Fall Arrest Safety Training/IPAF/ LMA and Industrial Climbing)

Safety Netting involves fixing 100mm - mesh man catching safety nets (EN 1263 1-2) to buildings and structures that are undergoing construction or refurbishment. Edge Protection (EN13374) involves the installation of system components and netting to the edges of buildings. The installation of Haki towers involves the erection of system scaffold towers. All of these activities require the use of either mobile or powered access equipment and/or direct access onto the structures using appropriate personal protection equipment.

Safety Riggers typically work in teams of two.

**The Right Person**

The person we are looking for will
- Hold a current clean UK driving licence
- Be Reliable and conscientious
- Practical by nature possibly with an interest in things mechanical
- Have their own transport for the journey to and from our Warehouse and Offices near Long Marston.
- Have a reasonable standard of education
- Have good communication and practical skills - there will be a need to make judgements on the appropriate equipment to use on a job and some liaison with other trades on site.
- Be in good health and able to pick up and manage equipment that weighs approximately 25 kilos. The work is physical.
- Be happy to work at height.
- Be able to work calmly under pressure.
- Be willing and able to work hard.
- Be eager to learn and take instruction from more experienced colleagues and external trainers
- Be willing to work throughout the UK and away from home periodically.
- Be willing to undertake Safety Net Rigger, Edge Protection and Power Access Licence Training
- Be willing to work the hours necessary to finish the job including occasional weekends.
