**The Role**:
- The Hive Centre are looking for a highly motivated and inspirational **Behaviour Support Worker**. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Primary Behaviour Service, providing support and challenge to mainstream primary schools in the Rushmoor, Hart and East Hants area. The service works in partnership with schools and families with an emphasis on early intervention during the primary phase.
You will have a passion for working with children who exhibit challenging behaviours and a resilient skill set that includes knowledge and understanding of de-escalation and co-regulation strategies. Alongside this the ability to share these strategies with others, including school staff and families is essential.
**What you’ll do**:
- Facilitate and deliver individual or group strategies and interventions to children, supporting them to fully benefit from the educational, personal or social opportunities.
- Work with senior colleagues to identify the needs of each child and/or family.
- Help develop appropriate interventions and support with assessment and regular reviews.
- Provide direct personal, practical and pastoral support, in accordance with agreed action plans/programmes to children, who are experiencing personal/social/educational difficulties at school.
- Work directly with teachers and school staff to identify the practical and personal needs of children requiring additional support at school and to advise and assist with behaviour management plans.
- Develop effective knowledge of working relationships with support agencies, services and voluntary organisations.
- Liaise effectively with parents to support positive outcomes for the child.
- Maintain appropriate records in accordance with internal and external guidelines, procedures and policies and provide appropriate administrative duties.
- Contribute to the development of resource materials for use in school to promote positive behaviour.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour.
- Sharing and modelling good practice with school staff.
- Ability to implement physical intervention techniques if required.
- Help support training delivery to schools.
- Support families of referred children and help to facilitate communication between home and school.
- Report to other professionals during multi-agency meetings.
- Report or evaluate work undertaken with PBS Team Manager.

**Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
- NVQ level 3 in a relevant discipline e.g. education, health, social care or willingness to work towards.
- Experience of working in schools with children and families, possibly to include special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
- Ability to develop effective relationships with children and their parents/carers and other professionals.
- Capacity to deal with challenging situations.
- Awareness of the impact of family, social and environmental factors on the educational and life chances of children and young people.
- Able to make independent judgments and exercise initiative within agreed limits.
- Able to maintain accurate records and present information clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge of child development and the social and emotional factors that affect a child's capacity to learn.
- Good verbal communication skills, listening and observation.
- Emotionally resilient.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Meet the travel requirements of the role.
