**About us**
The Science Museum Group's Wroughton site in Wiltshire is home to our National Collections Centre (NCC), where over 300,000 objects from our collection are studied and cared for.
In addition to providing museum storage, library, archive and collections management services for the Group, this vast 545-acre ex-RAF airfield, is made up of large open areas, farmland, native woodlands, hangars and other buildings, runways and one of theUK's largest solar farms. The site generates substantial income through lettings, events, research and development activities, and renewable energy generation.
The Wroughton site is currently undergoing exciting and ambitious changes. Our newly constructed 33,000m2 purpose-built collections facility is steadily being filled with objects transported from our soon-to-be-retired London store. As activity on the siteincreases, projects are underway to deliver solutions that will improve the experience for staff, researchers and other visitors coming to the site.
**About the role**
We are currently seeking a Head of Projects to lead a small team responsible for the development and delivery of a diverse range of building projects for our NCC site. Activity across the site can include refurbishment of existing buildings, additional storagesolutions, demolition of unwanted structures and enabling works for commercial tenants.
You will also support the delivery of SMG's net-zero ambitions, through energy generation and carbon reduction projects, building on the successes of the NCC as a sustainability exemplar at SMG.
Current development plans include working with organisations from within the engineering and film industries to undertake commercial development of some of the existing hangars and seeking partnerships for developing electric and autonomous vehicles, low carbontechnology and renewables research. In addition, the team will oversee the delivery of a programme of capital investment on the site, to address the needs of the estate across the site.
**About you**
You will have significant experience in leadership and client-side project management of large-scale construction projects. Adept at strategic decision-making, you will have a hands-on approach and will bring a confident and proactive attitude to this diverseproject portfolio.
With great interpersonal skills, you have the ability manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes and can motivate a team to preform to a high level. Your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively influenceothers, whilst establishing a clear vision and direction.
As a member of a groupwide Masterplan and Estate Department, you will be based at the National Collections Centre in Wroughton, near Swindon, with occasional travel to London.
