**The team**

Education, Schools and Inclusion covers a wide range of areas including school organisation and admissions, adult learning, the 0-5 Service, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, education support services and school improvement.

We have recently set up a Well-Being and Emotional Resilience Hub as part of the SEND/Alternative Provision Change Programme. At the Hub, bespoke education packages are delivered to individual or small groups of children and young people and staff support learners who are currently unable to attend school due to social, emotional and mental health needs.

**About the role**

A 1-year fixed-term vacancy has arisen for an Education Support Officer working in the Well-Being and Emotional Resilience Hub, to support children and young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs which are preventing them from returning to mainstream school. The main aim of this Hub is to support the reintegration of these children and young people back into mainstream schools, with a package of support which will ensure that this is both successful and sustainable, so that they can thrive.

Your role will be to liaise and work in partnership with schools/academies, children and young people, families and other services in relation to educational welfare with a view to supporting children and young people to access appropriate education. You will act as a key worker and offer individual support to children, young people and their families and will provide discrete packages of support where needed.

Please note that this role will be based at Gateshead Council Learning Centre in Dunston during term-time.
