**Online Assistive Technology Trainer**

**Location: Home based**

**Full time, 37 hours per week to include evening and weekend work - see patterns below**

**Contract: Fixed term, initial 12-month contract**

Barry Bennett are one of the largest suppliers of assistive technology to students in receipt of DSA (Disabled Students’ Allowance) throughout the UK. We provide installation, familiarisation, training and aftercare to students who have been recommended assistive technology following an ‘assessment of study needs.

The role of an assistive technology trainer is to provide thorough training which will allow our customers to use the recommended equipment to its full potential. Trainers must consider each person’s individual requirements from a disability and course related perspective. From point of induction and initial training, you will develop an in-depth knowledge of assistive technology, learning how to implement successful study-strategies, whilst also being available to work alongside our scheduling team to assist with bookings when required.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Provide familiarisation which aims to build a basic level of confidence for the customer in the usage of their equipment, software and accessories
- Provide training on a range of assistive software packages, typically voice dictation, literacy support, mind mapping and recording/notetaking solutions. Training for students may be recommended in a block, generally in 1, 2- or 3-hour formats
- Ad hoc assistance with training bookings as required

**Requirements**:
The successful applicant will possess the following qualities:

- Excellent communication skills
- Patient, friendly and professional manner with customers
- Proactive approach to resolving issues to customer satisfaction
- Comfortable working under pressure
- Able to deliver a high standard of teaching on core software packages
- Adaptable to each customer’s individual requirements
- A good standard of general IT skills
- Strong customer facing skills

**Further Information**:
Extensive ongoing training will be provided across multiple technologies and disability types, working towards accreditation on the various AT packages.
- Laptop and mobile phone will be provided
- You must be eligible to work in the UK

**Patterns of Work - these shift patterns will rotate on a 3-weekly basis**

**Pattern 1**: Monday off, Tuesday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Wednesday 12.00pm - 9.00pm, Thursday 12.00pm - 9.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 2.00pm, Saturday off, Sunday 9.00am - 6.00pm.

**Pattern 2**:Monday 1.00pm-9.00pm, Tuesday 12.00pm - 9.00pm, Wednesday 12.00pm - 9.00pm, Thursday 1.00pm - 9.00pm, Friday off, Saturday 9.00am - 5.00pm, Sunday off.

**Pattern 3**:Monday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Tuesday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Wednesday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Thursday 9.00am - 6.00pm, Friday 9.00am - 2.00pm (no lunch), Saturday/Sunday off

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term
