**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
- To function as an integral member of the PCTU and wider Pharmacy team in providing dedicated support to the data management and administration aspects of the service
- To work as part of the team in co-ordinating the caseload of trials involving an Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP)
- Act as the first point of contact for all delivery and stock enquiries into the PCTU when the allocated Clinical Trial Officer is unavailable
- Work collaboratively with Pharmacy colleagues and appropriate staff in other disciplines involved in research
- Communicate and disseminate information effectively to the research teams as necessary e.g. opening of new trials to enable timely and optimal patient recruitment
- Assist the Clinical Trials Officers in the setup of new trials within the electronic Pharmacy Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and Site Folder in line with regulatory requirements
- Ensure that the content of CTMS is kept up to date in line with new released trial material (e.g. Protocols) under the guidance of the designated Clinical Trials Officer
- Undertake regular housekeeping of CTMS to ensure that trials which are active, pending, suspended, closed, or rejected are appropriately allocated under the guidance of the Clinical Trials Administrator
- Assist the Clinical Trials Officers in archiving Pharmacy material related to clinical trials that are no longer recruiting in line with regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Pharmacy team in the safe and efficient dispensing / assembly of clinical trial IMPs
- Ensure the confidentiality of verbal, written and computerised information. Respond to patients, service users and carers (who may at times be distressed) tactfully, sensitively, and empathetically.
- Assist the Clinical Trial Officers to plan, prepare and participate in monitoring visits, audits and inspections
- Assist the Clinical Trial Officers in responding to trial data queries
- Assist the Clinical Trial Officers in the accountability of IMPs and processing returns as required

**Knowledge and Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:
- To be working towards or hold an NVQ L2 in pharmacy services, or equivalent
- GCSE English or Maths or equivalent
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Good mental arithmetic
**Desirable criteria**:
- Previous training on COSSH
- Previous customer care training
**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Previous manual handling experience and training
- Previous experience of working with Flammable and Cytotoxic substances
- Previous experience of working in a Pharmacy / Distribution / Clinical Trials related job for at least 1 year
- Previous experience of stock take and audits
- Previous experience of MHRA inspections
- Previous experience of supervising
- Previous experience of training others
- Previous experience of working with pharmacy dispensing computer system
