my client is looking for a **Transport Assistant** to join their busy Northern Transport team. The role involves all aspects of transport operations. Normal working hours will be 40 per week. The initial arrangements of these hours will be 09:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, with a one hour break each day, moving to a rota of 09:00 to 18:00, 10:00 to 19:00 or 07:00 to 16:00, with a one hour break each day.

In return for all this, we require a **Transport Assistant** - the role involves, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

- All aspects of transport operations.
- Assist with the smooth running of transport operations.
- Assist transport as a driver or passenger when requested by your manager.
- Receive vehicles in and out of the warehouse, following specific security instructions.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels of driver equipment.
- Support operations, warehouse and managers, wherever possible.
- Assist with facility maintenance.
- Represent the company by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance.
- Support management to ensure we are meeting the client needs.
- Adhere to all site security and health & safety regulations, reporting any breaches to the Transport Manager or Operations Manager.
- Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by your Manager.

The knowledge, skills and experience required from our **Transport Assistant** are:
Essential
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Ability to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadline.
- Good knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Strong communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues across all departments.
- Be a team player.
- Sound knowledge of IT - Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desirable
- Experience of Boxtop.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety.
- Knowledge of the local area.

Due to the nature of the role, there are a number of compulsory checks that must be carried out:
A criminal record check - basic disclosure, carried out by the Disclosure & Barring Service.

A full 5 year reference history, with any gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for.

Driving Licence check.
