**The role**

Reporting to the principle electrical engineer you will be an experienced electrical design engineer with an understanding of technical, commercial, and construction experience within the electrical industry.

You must be dynamic and enthusiastic with good interpersonal and business development skills, with a broad experience in professional and project work and with a rail services background.

The post duties will include the undertaking of rail electrical LV and station/building design services on a local and national basis in accordance with the client’s contract scope/requirements, current regulations, British and rail standards and specifications.

Requiring the undertaking and preparation to NR submission requirements of designs/briefs, specifications, feasibility studies, site inspection, commissioning and maintenance testing/certification, associated with a varied range of rail Infrastructure andelectrical services incuding project management covering:

- MV/ LV main distribution,
- Lineside plant and control (including points heating and earthing)
- Lighting, trackside, tunnel, platform and station buildings (general and emergency),
- Small power,
- Lightning protection,
- Life critical alarm, security and access systems,
- SCADA plant interfaces
- M&E system control and building management systems.

**Key requirements are**:

- Consultancy background
- Formal education and training in electrical engineering with demonstratable experience in the rail sector.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management and staff at all levels and our clients.
- Able to undertake rail LV electrical surveys and design calculations.
- Familiar in the use of Amtech and industrial standard lighting design software.
- Capable of working to a programme.
- Good team worker and client facing ability

**Responsibilities Guide**
- Preparing schemes and designs deliverables in accordance with NR/L3/ELP/27406 for approvals.
- Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems, and identifying of options.
- Supervisingandmonitoringworksonsite, chairingand managingprogressmeetings,identificationandassessmentofadditionalpaymentsduetovariation orders or compensation events, determination of project final accounts and completing the defects period.
- The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients’ needs and to respond to targets set byothers.
- Abide by the objectives and targets of both the section and the department and follow procedures andpracticesutilisedinallaspectsofthework,includingcomputerisedandmanualsystemsandthe maintenance of relevant records

**Key Skills**
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the design, implementation and supervision in relevant aspects of rail electrical design andconstruction.
- Knowledgeandunderstandingoftherelevant electrical legislation,standardsandprocedures.
- Capable of discussing engineering issues and identifyingsolutions
- An experienced Electrical Design Engineer familiar with the preparation of professional engineering designs and reports.
