Academic Writing Support Coach

We have a great opportunity for an Academic Writing Support Coach to join us to be part of Bradford College’s ambition to transform the lives of our learners, help them to aim higher and support them to achieve their goals.
As the Academic Writing Support Coach, you will manage and support the academic success of individual students by providing personal support following referral from curriculum teams.

Responsibilities include:
- Providing individual face to face/online support to students to improve academic writing for range of HE courses.
- Delivering coaching in study skills and academic writing at levels 4, 5, and 6 to groups of students.
- Working with course leaders to provide effective initial, diagnostic and summative assessment.
- Provide SMART targets to support the student achievement.
- Referral to other support services as appropriate.
- Contributing to student progression and career plans.
- Co-ordinate support and intervention strategies and packages, both internal and external, for groups of students.

Education & Training
- Educated to Degree level
- GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
- Willing to achieve a Level 3 Certificate in Personal Tutoring within an agreed time frame
- A Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential
Experience
- Ability to undertake the duties of the post
- Successful experience of working with people on a 1:1 and group basis to achieve their career goals.
- Ability to work well with and relate to students and other professionals.
- High level of personal skills in academic writing.
- Ability to utilise IT and ILT both for administrative purposes (Microsoft Office/Teams
