We are looking for an enthusiastic highly dedicated individual to join our friendly and experienced staff team who MUST hold a level 3 qualification in childcare. Our Mattishall setting is based on the primary school site it is a very warm welcoming home from home environment caring for children from 4 months old to school age. We also offer a breakfast and after school club.

This position is for our recently opened baby room due to an extension we have seen a great increase in baby room numbers.

Hours are varied between 7.30-6pm Monday-Friday on a all year round basis,. Salary is dependent on age and experience up to £14 per hour.

**RESPONSIBLE TO**

Deputy Manager and Manager

**Purpose of post**
- To provide a high standard of care and education for all children
- To lead and work as an active member of the staff team
- To ensure children are safeguarded from harm
- To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation

To provide service delivery within the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Development Matters and Every Child Matters, British Values

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

CHILDREN’S CARE AND LEARNING
- To manage the day to day running of the room and ensure staff are deployed appropriately
- To make sure all children have full access to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, making sure all planning is completed and implemented
- To help create and foster development, safety and welfare of the children including the positive management of children’s behaviour
- To employ techniques to help staff work as a team and support them in their roles
- To lead the team and offer support when planning, preparing and delivering activities to meet the individual needs of all children under Little Footsteps Childcare care including those with Special Educational Needs.
- To work as part of a team to provide activities and resources within the nursery which reflects the multi cultural nature of the local community
- To provide a welcoming, happy, safe and friendly environment for all.
- To understand the religious, ethnic and cultural differences and to incorporate these into activities and the daily routine of the Nursery
- To help prepare and serve snacks and main meals for children in the nursery, knowing individual dietary requirements and following the nurseries food policy
- To lead in providing a safe and secure environment for the children in the Nursery.
- To attend and contribute to Nursery staff meetings as required.
- To be a good role model for childcare practitioners and students
- To help new staff fit into the nursery environment
- To encourage parents and carers to be involved in the setting and their children’s learning
- To attend at least 3 parents/carers meetings a year (these may occur outside standard working hours)
- To attend at least one Saturday open day per year.
- To take responsibility for the care and use of resources including IT equipment
- To be a key person for a group of children ensuring their time at nursery is fun, educational and they are well cared for

**SAFEGUARDING**
- To ensure all necessary steps are taken to keep children safe and well
- To report any concerns to the nominated safeguarding officer
- To ensure the observe, record, report procedure is followed
- To understand Little Footsteps Childcare safeguarding policy and procedures
- To keep abreast of any changes to the safeguarding policy and procedures
- To ensure that your team are updated on any changes to the safeguarding policy and procedures.

**CONFIDENTIALITY**
- To relay all information regarding parents, carers and children which is made available to you as a result of your work to the appropriate person. To know and treat some information as confidential to yourself and your line manager
- To complete and maintain accurate records of children as required by the nursery including regular observations and keeping each child’s profile up to date
- To monitor planning and activities in your base room and ensure appropriate activities are carried out
- To ensure your team are keeping up to date with their workload by monitoring their profiles on a weekly basis
- To keep parents fully informed of their child’s health, welfare and educational progress within the nursery on a daily basis
- To be responsible for and lead in planning, assessments and recording and to attend regular room meetings to ensure that quality childcare is provided

**HYGIENE**
- To maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times in relation to yourself, children, equipment and the environment, undertaking cleaning duties as necessary
- To monitor and ensure your team maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness

HEALTH AND SAFETY
- To implement and ensure your team adhere to the health and safety procedures in regard to the nursery premises, equipment, children, other staff, visitors and parents
